Brainspotting
"Where you look affects how you feel." -David Grand, PhD
What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a therapeutic technique designed to help individuals process and heal from past traumas, emotional wounds, and various mental health challenges. It is based on the idea that the brain holds onto emotional pain and unresolved issues, often in specific areas of the body or mind. By targeting these areas, Brainspotting can help unlock and release these deeply held emotions, allowing for healing and growth.
How it Works:
During a Brainspotting session, you will be guided by your therapist to focus on a specific area of your emotional or physical discomfort. This may involve identifying a "brainspot" – a point in your visual field that helps access and process the emotions tied to your experience. The therapist will help you stay connected to the sensations or feelings that arise while you focus on this spot. This process helps to facilitate emotional release and deeper insight.
Brainspotting uses the power of your brain's natural processing ability to access unprocessed trauma, memories, or emotions that might be difficult to reach through regular talk therapy. The technique combines focused mindfulness, eye positions, and body sensations, allowing your brain and body to work together to heal in a gentle and effective way.

Why Brainspotting?
It allows for healing of trauma to occur without having to relive it through traditional talk therapy. It accesses our brain-body system's innate ability to heal and self-organize, and:
1. Helps process trauma, anxiety, and emotional pain2. Releases deep-seated emotional blockages3. Reduces the intensity of painful memories and triggers4. Promotes emotional regulation and mental clarity5. Supports overall well-being and inner peace
Brainspotting is suitable for a variety of emotional issues, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, performance anxiety, and relationship challenges. It is a safe, non-invasive therapy that often provides fast results in a supportive and nurturing environment.
If you're looking for a way to heal emotional wounds or move past unprocessed trauma, Brainspotting may be an excellent choice for you. Reach out to Kelly to schedule.
